Starting at the cruise port, board a luxury Catamaran and sail down the sheltered leeward side of the island. As you sail past Old Road town, site of the first English settlement in the Caribbean, you will see for yourself how the mighty fortress on Brimstone hill (UNESCO world heritage site) secured the island from enemy vessels.
Landing at New Guinea on the western tip of the island, you will hop aboard a colorful safari bus for the land portion of your tour, passing through quaint villages such as Middle Island and Half Way Tree. The highlight of this portion of your tour will undoubtedly be Wingfield Plantation, granted in 1625 by the King of England to Sam Jefferson, a direct ancestor of the 3rd US President, Thomas Jefferson. Here you will stroll the grounds and see the preserved remains of a 18th-century rum distillery, perhaps the best example in the entire Caribbean. Here, taste modern local rums, as the tradition continues to this day.
